The New Breed

Was talking to a table full of folks at my non-club meeting of local physicists. Anyway, one of the ladies there was an attorney and we got into a discussion of this Marine LtCol who asked the administration publicly about the Afghanistan disaster. He resigned and was humiliated, of course. The other folks at the lunch wanted to know how I felt about that.

As I’ve stated previously in this blog, he violated the UCMJ, and he didn’t go about this in the right order. First you resign, then you run your mouth. Or, you can even do it at the same time, say on your resignation letter that you’re resigning because of the blah, blah, blah. But even as incompetent as the current denizens of the White House are, you do what the Constitution says you do. And the Constitution says that Congress is going to make separate rules for the military, so suck it up, buttercup. Your job is to protect and defend the Constitution, but it ain’t for you. The military is not a republic, it is not a democracy. It is there to protect the Republic, but it cannot effectively practice that way.

So the lady lawyer got a bit nasty, mostly because she was shown to be wrong by a laymen. Then she went into after-burning-dumb mode and said she could make an argument against this. Lady, do you know how many time this as been argued about, at every level of the judiciary? This has got to be one of the most argued subjects in the courts.

And my lunch kinda sucked too.

But let’s go further into this. At least that LtCol had courage. In fact, he’s the only officer in the Marine Corps (that I know of) that had to courage to do something about this fiasco of a government. Instead of that group of spineless jackasses on the Joint Chiefs, they should have resigned in mass until an impartial and full investigation of the vote irregularities of the 2020 presidential election was conducted.

That’s not an insurrection, it’s a perfectly reasonable request. In fact, it should have been a demand from the Republicans, but they folded like a cheap suit. Of course they would have been vilified by the press, but who cares? They’re gonna screw you anyway, by sticking you with Biden during the Afghan retrograde disaster. Now your in the history books General, and not in a good way.

Those people on the Joint Chiefs and higher echelons of the military are the product of a completely faulty promotion system. A system of competent commissars sure, but if we have to fight a war, well hey. Those are the guys you made get out or retire. These are the same quality of commissars that the Soviets had at Barbarossa, the German invasion during WWII. The leftover officers after Stalin’s purges, these are political clay pigeons that had to be swept aside when the wolf was at the door. Some of the competent officers had to be pulled out of gulags and sent to the front.
