Gaps and Velocity

Came across this by accident...a wamen pretend data scientist trying out this wage gap horseshit again. She was lousy, half of her code was jacked, and she didn’t use the right libraries, but here’s some of the code that I had to rewrite in R:

library(zeallot)
library(wrapr)
library(dplyr)
location <- "https://github.com/WinVector/PDSwR2/raw/master/PUMS/incomedata.rds"
incomedata <- readRDS(url(location))

Then the analysis, wage mean separated by gender:

incomedata %>%
group_by(sex) %>%
summarise(mean_income=mean(income))

Here’s what that looks like:

  sex mean_income
  <fct> <dbl>
1 Male 55582.
2 Female 46980.

Wow! Men make a lot more than women. Holy shit, the wage gap is real! Let’s look at who they
work for:

incomedata %>%
group_by(sex,employment ) %>%
summarise(mean_income=mean(income))

   sex employment mean_income
   <fct> <fct> <dbl>
1 Male Employee of a private for profit 54771.
2 Male Federal government employee 69037.
3 Male Local government employee 59234.
 4 Male Private not-for-profit employee 56438.
5 Male Self employed incorporated 71865.
6 Male Self employed not incorporated 43989.
7 Male State government employee 55363.
8 Female Employee of a private for profit 45619.
9 Female Federal government employee 60596.
10 Female Local government employee 48592.
11 Female Private not-for-profit employee 51120.
12 Female Self employed incorporated 50163.
13 Female Self employed not incorporated 35742.
14 Female State government employee 50705.

These are lower too! The wage gap exists!

You probably didn’t see it. Let me zoom in a bit:

Male Self employed incorporated 71,865.

Female Self employed incorporated 50,163.

Male Self employed not incorporated 43,989.
Female Self employed not incorporated 35,742.

You see it? Women who are self employed make a lot less than men. In both categories. So
women are paying themselves less, or making less at their own business. How can a wage gap
exist for people who decide what their own salaries are going to be?

Speaking of money...
Last year the U.S. balance sheet went from -4.66 trillion to -7.3 trillion, but we didn’t see
solid inflation until months after the stimulus crap. Why is that? Inflation has two
components, the money supply is increased, and the ‘velocity’ of the money has to change.
Velocity is just the circulation of the money. In other words, if I print up 3 trillion
dollars of cash and keep it in a vault, the active money supply doesn’t change. But when
I put it in circulation then inflation kicks in. So it took a while to get out there, but now
we have a big problem. Hey, your house is worth 600k! Yeah! Bad news. That’s the same as 300K
last year.

I’m really starting to hate the news, but here’s some anyway…

Bette Midler wants to have a sex strike, where women don’t have sex with their men until the
Texas abortion law goes back to the way it was.

Her husband is fully supporting the effort.
And

Dating Apps Bumble and Match Pledge to help women get abortions in response to to Texas Pro-Life
Law

Now we know what their target demographic is.

Started out as a penal colony, and ended as one. Cyclical!

Taliban told the State department to go F itself.
I guess I do have something in common with the Taliban:
