Pantano, Marine Corps Legal, and NCIS

I just finished reading Ilario Pantano's Warlord, recanting his Odyssey through the Marine Corps legal system after a shitbird Sergeant named David Coburn decided to make up a story about Pantano murdering some Iraqi civilians. Pantano had a great career in the Marine Corps before he was railroaded. My main questions after reading the story are:

Why did the Division Legal Office and NCIS believe the story of a disgruntled shitbird Sgt like Coburn over all the other statements and press for an Article 32 hearing? Why did NCIS suppress some statements? The division legal officer was probably a clone of the same idiot division legal Colonel who told me to coerce a statement out of a witness, to which I told him to go to hell. Luckily I had a LtCol who also told him to go to hell.

Why did the NCIS withhold the multitude of witness testimony that was in favor of Pantano's story and only use shitbird testimony that was shredded by the defense during the Art 32 hearing? This was a criminal act by NCIS and I doubt they were held accountable for it (but they tried to hide their stupidity by holding up discovery). They basically ruined Pantano's career by their actions and got away with it without any repercussions. Not quite the shining professionals we're shown on TV, are they?

After it was all over, an autopsy of the Iraqis shot during the incident collaborated Pantano's story, but by that time the Marine Corps had already lost a great officer.

Pericles turns over in grave...

Here in Athens, young and fashionably disheveled people are waving red flags and holding a demonstration while marching around the Syntagma, the Greek Constitution Square.
"Who are they?" I ask a young and pretty Athenian, while we're watching from a trendy coffee shop.
"I don't know." She replied with an empty shake of her empty head. "We see them every couple of days."

But I know. They're communists, protesting the austerity measures of the Socialist Greek Parliament. Too little austerity and too late. I wonder what they're chanting. I doubt it's what I'm thinking:
"We ran out of other people's money,
And we want more,
So I'm protesting that,
While we're about out the door!"

Not the smartest group I've ever seen. Meanwhile the Socialist Greek Parliament is voting in higher taxes for the overburdened few who are paying them. Those who are, are in the minority in the crazy and corrupt tax system. More Socialist bullshit.
Athens, in Pericles time rebuilt it's temples and the streets were lined with beautiful and stately homes of it's wealthy merchants. Now its filled with ugly squat tenements that surround the beautiful government buildings like the new Acropolis museum, a 200 million dollar salute to government, paid for by the people and existing for the government.
Meanwhile, the lefty CNN International here blares about evil Republicans back home stifling Greek style progress by the hero Barack Obama. Oh, what can be done! Also CNN International claims millions of people are up in arms about the execution of Troy Davis while not a one is defending his victim, a cop who Davis shot while the cop was defending Davis' intended victim. I'll speak for that cop. His name was Mark MacPhail. He's the only hero I've heard about, while Pericles is rolling over a few block away.

Not to a Solyndra executive. But for the rest of us, I would say the scale is tipping into the wrong.

Givem what they want

Glenn Reynolds writes about a tax from the fifties on gross box office returns, and why we should give the Hollywood lefties the tax increases they are always clamoring for. A lot of the causes Hollywood supports require high taxes, so let them pay high taxes so they can feel better about themselves and their drug fueled pool orgies.

Or, you can pay $30 dollars a month, set up a seed box in Europe and seed torrents to take a bite out of Hollywood. Of course I don't condone copyright infringement. I condemn it in the strongest terms. Here, a horrible rat-bastard is explaining how to set up a seed box:

USA Network is combating Hate and Intolerance...how bout just supporting your troops for once??

I received this spam-text from USA network a couple of days ago:

"As part of USA's effort to combat hate and intolerance, see the premiere of THE SPACE BETWEEN to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11..."

The space between is the story about a flight attendant and a Pakistani boy who get together for a "Gee, we should hate each other but we're really all the same inside," sophomoric philosophy lesson from Hollywood. Well USA network, bad idea. I haven't noticed you love, peace, dope Hollywood types breaking your arms to welcome soldiers coming back from defending your freedom, maybe you should devote a little bit of time to that instead. Maybe the nine US servicemen who have died in Afghanistan this month by the time you showed your little hate and intolerance flick should be remembered. Or did you even know that was still going on? Marching in a peace parade or implicitly spitting on soldiers coming back from the fight doesn't mean you're involved USA network. And yes, you have no patriotism. There is none to question, because you have none.

Phoenix Burton Barr Library

Phoenix has a beautiful central library that we've paid many millions of tax dollars to build and maintain. Just one problem:

The homeless.

Now, I've been in some pretty bad shape myself a couple of times, and maybe even wasn't sure where I was going to spend the night but I've always managed to get a shower and clean up a bit. The homeless in this library infest it to the point where you can't sit down anywhere without the reek of urine and feces wafting over you like the pit of despair. I'm serious, the place is an architectural wonder and a olfactory Guantanamo Bay. They need to enforce some clothing and hygiene policies down there. That's the real question, why don't they? Maybe we need to ship the homeless down to the Phoenix City Council meetings, stench and all and make them stay there until the city council comes out with some new regs on hygiene for attending the library. If you smell, you no get to raise hell, down in your cell, at the library jail!

In fact, the Repugnant cites a survey where people are actually more than happy to increase their own taxes! I would say the comments under the story more accurately depict the feelings of the voters.

A left economic professor from Columbia tells us yet again how to run our budgetary process and how Bush mislead the country about war costs. Yet we all know what happens when these idiots with no common sense are allowed to run things. Obama has the most educated yet least experienced private sector guys around. How is he doing?

The real question is why these guys like Enron adviser Paul Krug and Stiglitz lack common sense? Common sense in this case being, if you don't want to be attacked/bullied you need to go after the bullies. Preferably with a Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Here's one explanation where Bruce Charlton of Medical Hypothesis calls these guys "Clever Sillies."

Does Super High IQ = Superlow Common Sense?

The problem with the "Clever Sillies" is there is a large group of Not so Clever Sillies that give credence to their silliness. This is not so hard to understand, they don't have a high IQ and they have no common sense. This is the majority of the Democratic party.
